TUSKA CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY – HIM TO HEADLINE

That’s a fact: Finland’s longest running and boldest metal festival, Tuska, will be celebrated for the 20th time the coming summer. It’s been a long and rocky road from the depths of Tavastia-klubi, through two different outdoor venues to Suvilahti, where Tuska settled in 2011. The 20th anniversary will take place during the weekend of 30.6.-2.7.2017. Be sure to mark that in your calendars – in blood.

At last have the stars and hearts aligned, and HIM’s first ever Tuska-appearance is finally coming to fruition. HIM’s Tuska show has been in the works practically the entire existence of the festival. It’s also noteworthy that this will be HIM’s first outdoor show in their hometown Helsinki.

The 69 Eyes unveil music video 'Miss Pastis' and new tourdates

Helsinki Vampires THE 69 EYES are ready to unveil their new music video for "Miss Pastis". The song is a rock hymn about French alcohol & women with the simple chorus “Salut, ça va!” and comes off their latest morbid masterpiece »Universal Monsters«. The clip was once again directed and filmed by fronter Jyrki 69 himself and the Finnish quintet decided to release it on "La Fête Nationale", France’s National Day on July 14th.

“It’s a great driving rocker of a song which has already made people move in our live set. I got the idea for the lyrics in Marseille, France where pastis is cheap and girls are pretty. I shot the video in the gardens of Palace of Versailles – I wanted to make it look like crazy, little art film influenced by as much Jacques Tati as Federico Fellini and classic French films,” tells singer Jyrki 69.

But the Vampires have just been awaken and therefore, they also announced new tour dates for this November - and three special UK shows together with the legendary dark rocker from THE MISSION. Jyrki 69 states with excitement:

“I remember first time seeing the ‘Wasteland’ video on Sky Channel. It hit me hard, I even got the issue of SMASH Hits with Wayne on the cover! “God’s Own Medicine” is still one of my favorite albums and without a doubt THE 69 EYES wouldn’t sound like we do without THE MISSION. Can’t wait to get back to play in the UK and for the Eskimos!”

Daniel Lioneye will release a new album: VOL III

When formed in 2001, Daniel Lioneye originally consisted of Ville Valo (HIM) on drums, Mige (HIM) on bass and Linde (HIM) on guitar and vocals. That year, they released The King Of Rock 'n' Roll in Finland and Germany, a 'tongue in cheek' psychedelic stoner rock album. Performing festival shows in Finland under the name ‘Daniel Lioneye And The Joint Rollers,’ their music soon reached international audiences when the title track of the album was selected as the theme song for Bam Margera's MTV show, Viva La Bam. In 2006, "The King Of Rock 'n' Roll" was the most played Finnish song in the world (right after Sibelius, of course).

In 2008, Linde wanted to do a Daniel Lioneye album completely different than the last. The follow-up album, simply titled VOL II (The End Records), was an extreme rock n’ roll album much heavier than their first, quite noticeably influenced by black metal. The album represented everyday life- divorce, dealing with difficult situations and people, cannabis psychosis, extreme nightmares, self-realization, sex, moving on, standing up for yourself, anger management and the universe.

Now, Daniel Lioneye has teamed up yet again with The End Records (US) to release VOL III, an album that is, in many ways, a combination of their previous two. Basking in magnetic glow of the northern lights, this album deals with an existential crisis- depression, disappointment, being lost, meaninglessness. Says Linde, “VOL III is heavier, with more fuzzy guitars, more singing, and less growling. The drumming is very ‘metal.’” He jokes, “You can actually hear the vocals on this album.”

Single Ravensong will be released on July 1st, 2016 and the album VOL III is available worldwide August 19, 2016 in digital and CD formats.

Daniel Lioneye:
Linde - vocals, guitar
Mige - bass

"As I first heard the instrumental demo of the song, it immediately sounded for me like a song from the early 80’s new wave/post punk days. You know, like when the music was heavily inspired by David Bowie’s dark visions, the Cold War, the threat of nuclear war and »1984«-kind of the future. So I wrote such lyrics from the past – and all of a sudden, the history started to repeat itself and the Cold War winds started to blow again! It was very strange - all of a sudden THE 69 EYES have a song which is very "today" and even political, longing back to the days of peace," explains singer Jyrki 69. "We also wanted the video to be artistic and visually capture the vibe and theme of the song. There is hope but also darkness, violence and innocence. And it’s only goth 'n' roll."

The new album’s cover artwork was conceived by Ville Juurikkala - known for his work with NIGHTWISH, AMORPHIS, HIM, APOCALYPTICA and MICHAEL MONROE. As the album title »Universal Monsters« refers, the band are captured in movie monster lightning, showing them as well classic and timeless creatures. “The covers are planned and designed as an old-school CD covers - remember when the booklets used to be as exciting as the album itself?! It will actually have five different covers - each member of the band can be used as a cover creature of their own. Ville has really succeeded in capturing the classic movie vibe for the shots without any special make-up or photo shopping. THE 69 EYES are the universal rock ’n’ roll monsters - not so many of us left anymore,” says THE 69 EYES vocalist Jyrki. “So from real fans I wish they would get the actual CD in their hands to get the full album treatment as we want it to be experienced!”

Reckless Love´s InVader crossing borders

The finnish ambassadors of  ”merry metal” Reckless Love have been playing their melodic hard rock over a decade now. The band is known for their colourful and entertaining live shows and catchy songs about the timeless rock ´n roll subjects: girls, girls, girls.

Outside their homebase Finland Reckless Love has a remarkable following in the UK, in which the band has toured frequently over the past five years.

Reckless Love is releasing their fourth album InVader March 11th. The album will be available in many European countries with  UK and Germany included - and in the US as well. The guitar player of the band Pepe Cedergren says InVader is their bravest and most versatile album. But the result didn´t come easy. It meant ”blood, sweat and tears” for the guys in the band.

For the first time in the band´s history, we took a total break from touring for writing.  We really wanted to put all the focus in creating great songs. We wanted to stretch the genre limits even more than before. We did all kinds of experiments, some of them pretty far out from our comfort zone, and finally came to square one of the joyous hard rock music, the Reckless Love music.”

Over the course of their career Reckless Love have many times challenged the carved into stone kind of hard rock traditions and beliefs.  When their biggest hit, the shamelessly poppy ”Hot” came out in 2011, the genre purists were saying the guys are digging their own grave. The history has shown that was not the case.

Also InVader flirts with pop, even with electro, but  then again it beautifully connects the best parts of the hard rock legacy into their new songs, such as the first single Monster. The song about the modern woman reminds us of Alice Cooper, Mötley Crue and at times even The Queen.

Reckless Love starts their 25 show UK-European tour March 4th with their opening act Santa Cruz. The tour starts From Bristol and ends up in Moscow in April 3rd. Check the tour dates & ticket infos here: http://www.recklesslove.com

Now the first single, 'Jet Fighter Plane,' from the upcoming, outstanding record has been released. The band have also created a music video for the song with director Ville Juurikkala. Click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDaN1JFAliY

"As I first heard the instrumental demo of the song, it immediately sounded for me like a song from the early 80’s new wave/post punk days. THE DEL-LORDS FINNISH GIGS HAVE BEEN CANCELED!!

Please see below from the Del-Lords. Eric Ambel has broken his foot and needs re-constructive surgery. His doctor has forbidden him to fly.

We have no option but to postpone the coming up dates. As you'll see from the band's statement, they are bitterly disappointed and commited to rescheduling just as soon as they know what Eric's recuperation period will be.

Should you require any medical proof of his accident, please let me know.

Well, just when we thought it was safe to go back in the water, or on a plane, or a stage, or pretty much anywhere, the powers of the Universe have decided, "Not so fast, pally". As Eric reported just a few days ago, with the photo to prove it, he had an accident at home, and slipped and broke his fibula. You might remember that photo of him in that compression apparatus, and here today we present the follow-up to the compression apparatus - a full-on foot, ankle, leg, stabilizing boot. Judging by just the look of it, i would say it is mighty uncomfortable.
So, what is the skinny on all this, the headlines, the story so far? It is surgery for my guitar brother, our producer, our friend and colleague. Eric will meet with the surgeon on Tuesday of next week, and get the lowdown on what he will be facing. Besides the fun and games of surgery itself, then he will get an idea of what he will be facing recovery-wise. I am no doctor, but i am sure it will be a monster drag, not without discomfort and pain, and will take some time.
So, by now you can see this taxi coming like it's coming up 6th Ave, after midnight, in the rain. Yes, it pains us all - Eric most of all - to announce that the upcoming shows, while still upcoming, are not going to happen in September. We have to cancel and reschedule everything for now, as we just do not have the necessary info at this time to say when we will be making up those dates, both Europe and NYC, and Joisey. We will absolutely make good on every one of those dates, as well as starting the recording of a new record as soon as we can.
We are sorry to have to make this announcement, but such is the fickle finger of Fate. After a year away for Frank and myself to have and recover from surgery, it feels more than a little unfair of the Universe to fuck with us this way, but we must do what we must do.
Of course, just in case, and before anyone suggests this - there is not a chance in Hell of hiring a sub for Eric. Eric is completely and absolutely irreplaceable for even one minute, let alone a tour. As you know, he is one of a kind - our kind. We are not the Del-Lords without him, and that's that. Just in case, someone wanted to suggest it. Ya know, Mick would wait all night for Keith, and we will wait as long as it takes for Eric

THE 69 CATS FINALLY BRINGS THEIR SHOW TO FINLAND AUGUST 2015

The 69 Cats was born out of Jyrki 69’s musical interest towards 50’s rock’n roll, rockabilly and Elvis. After a holiday trip to Memphis, Tennessee and a visit to the legendary Sun Studios, Jyrki made up his mind about forming his own roots band. With the “coolest players in the biz”, naturally.

The line-up, all-American except for the Finnish born singer, plays heavy duty rockabilly and rock’n roll songs. Members of The 69 Cats are known to have previously played with such artists as Blondie, The Cramps, The Rockats and The 69 Eyes.

With my gothrock-background we like to showcase material from the darker side of the alley, smirks Jyrki 69.

Until now The 69 Cats have released ”Bad Things”-EP (2013) and ”Transylvanian Tapes”-album (2014) on California based Cleopatra Records. The released material consists of covers from e.g. Elvis, Bauhaus and the Rocky Horror Picture Show - all with a modern twist.

The band has been gigging occasionally around the USA for two years. Their first European tour takes place in May, and finally in August, The 69 Cats will debut live in Finland.

Because of my heritage Finland is sort of the spiritual homeland of the band, says Jyrki 69.

On drums at the Finnish shows is a man very well-known to the Finnish audience: Nicky Turner of the Lords of the New Church.

There’s something for everyone here, whether you’re a fan of rockabilly-, psychobilly- goth or even Hanoi Rocks!”

The band line-up in Finland:

Jyrki 69 (The 69 Eyes) – vocals

Danny B. Harvey (Rockats, The Head Cat, Nancy Sinatra, Wanda Jackson) – guitars

Chopper Franklin (The Cramps) – bass

Nicky Turner (Lords Of The New Church) – drums
